He studied German in the school in Geradstetten, Latin for 2 years in the school in Schorndorf, and mathematics in Grunbach. He learned the profession from his father. Wandered for six years to Schorndorf, Stuttgart, Bestigheim (Besigheim?), Kochheim on the Neckar, Leonberg, Bamberg in Franconia, and then to Heubach. In the year 1691 he came to the town hall, and remained there until 1714, as he was burdened with obligation?. Was two times Burgermeister, 34 years administrator of revenues, 8 years tax assessor, survived a deadly disease in the second year of his marriage, the same again in the year 1725, and in the Spring of 1733, also 1738.
Wife, Catharina, born 16 May 1663, died 4 September 1735 Father: Matthias Seitz, butcher and member of the court here Mother: Catharina, native of Blochingen (Plochingen), daughter of a smith (or Schmid) can read, write. It is interesting to speculate about a possible connection of this Rommel family with that of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, famed German commander in the World War II period, but we have no information to support this. Field Marshal Rommel's family came from the area near Ulm.
There is also a hamlet called Rommelsbach near Waiblingen.
There is a gap in Grunbach church records for baptisms 1633-1636, during which period there could have been one or more additional chidren of Thomas and Elisabetha born. A search of these records 1604-1615 revealed no baptisms identifiable with either Thomas or Elisabetha. In fact the only Elisabetha baptized during this period was the daughter of Jörg Xander, 6 Dec 1614.
Notes for Elisabetha Knaur: The writing on Elisabeth's marriage record is somewhat unclear, but her father's name appears to be Claus Knaur. As we have it elsewhere, Clas Knaur did have a daughter of that name, baptized 11 Mar 1612, reasonably close to the stated age of Elisabetha. Death: 8 May 1638, Elisabetha [Knaur], w/o Thomas Rommel, 24 years old.

Notes for Daniel Seybold: The Seybold family, descendants of Daniel Seybold, played a key role in the history of the Lemberger family and related lines, especially the Hottmann family. Daniel's son David was married to Catharina Knaur, daughter of Claus Knaur, an ancestor. After his death, Catharina married Hans Hottmann, and thus was an ancestor in her own right (6th great grandmother to Judith Ann Taylor Snediker). David's brother, Daniel Jr., played an even more important role. Margretha Seybold, Daniel Jr.'s daughter by his first marriage to Maria Kurz, married Hans Wörner. Their daughter, Anna Maria, married Hans Michael Lemberger. By a third marriage, Daniel Jr. had Waldpurga, who married Caspar Zeyhr. Waldpurga and Caspar had a son, Daniel Zeyhr, who married Anna Margretha Schanbacher. Daniel and Anna Margretha in turn had a daughter, Helena, who married Johann Antonius Hottmann. Thus Daniel Seybold, Jr. is Judy's 7th great-grandfather twice over.
Daniel served as both the Schultheiß (mayor) of Grunbach, and the Amtsverweser (deputy or acting mayor).
Even though this was primarily a Grunbach family, there are two Seybold family registers in the Ältestes Kirchenbuch of the Geradstetten Evangelical church, for reasons not entirely clear. These have to do with the family groups of Daniel's sons, Daniel Jr., and Hanns, who was baptized Johannes, and who married Katharina Wieland, of a Geradstetten family (possibly the reason for the Geradstetten records).

There was also a Jerg Schanbacher, possibly the son of Georg Schanbacher, who, like Hans Schanbacher lived on the Osterberg. This Jerg was born abt. 1616 and died 25 Mar 1679. At the time of his birth, Waldpurga would have been about 32, and presumably Georg at least that old, which facts argue for other, older children.

Notes for Hanns Heckel: Birth and death: There is a fragmentary, undated and only partially legible baptismal record estimated to have been from about 1574 identifying a Hans Heckel born to Balthasar? Heckel and Margretha. This is the only Hans or Johann Heckel who otherwise fits with this family group. He probably died prior to 1637 when death records begin, and was clearly dead by the time of the marriage of his daughter Agatha to Daniel Seybold in 1638. There is, at any rate, no death record for him. There were two Hans Heckels in Grunbach having children at this time. This is the only one having a daughter Agatha whose baptismal date is consistent with her reported age at death. Of their children here identified, the clearly distinguishing feature is that Daniel Mergenthaler was listed as a witness at the baptism of each of them.
Notes for Agnes: Birth and baptism: based on her marriage record, she apparently came from Winterbach, in Oberamt Schorndorf. The earliest church books for Winterbach begin in 1649, too late to include her or her parentage. Her birth date is estimated from her age at death, as below.
