I have attached a much more detailed report on the first three generations of descendants of Johann Antonius Hottmann and Helena Zeyhr. There is probably a lot more information there than you really care about, but I think it may clarify some of your questions. I have data on several more generations, but I doubt that would be of much interest to you. 
 
The format of these reports may not be familiar to you, so I can explain here that where children of a married couple are listed, the symbol "+" indicates that there is a separate entry later on that deals with that person and his or her family group. The Arabic numerals (1,2, etc.) are the serial numbers that correspond to those entries. The Roman numerals (i.ii, etc.) simply show the birth order of the children of that particular couple. Any numbers that appear in the various "notes" sections are just applicable to the content of that note and have no further purpose. At the beginning of an individual entry, the person's name is usually followed by one or more names in parentheses (brackets). You asked about these. These are the names of that person's direct ancestors in ascending order (father, grandfather, great-grandfather, etc.). Superscribed numbers in the text refer to endnotes.
